# Service State

Check that the daemon is healthy, see which databases it loaded, and change the port or stop it.

## Verify service state

```bash
BASE="$(cat ~/.config/kuradb/endpoint)"
curl "$BASE/api/health"
curl "$BASE/api/list"
```

`/api/health` returns plain text `OK`. `/api/list` returns both the currently loaded database names and registry entries; the registry is read on every request while the loaded set is fixed at startup, so the two differ after `kura add` or `kura remove`, or when a registered database failed to open. `kura list` prints the registry alone and does not need a running daemon.

## Stop or reconfigure

```bash
kura port set 8080
kura port clear
kura stop
```

| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
| `kura port set <port>` | Saves the port to `config.json`, stops a running daemon if there is one, and starts the daemon on that port |
| `kura port clear` | Removes the pin; takes effect only on the next manual restart |
| `kura stop` | Sends `SIGTERM` to the daemon recorded in `runtime.uid`, then `SIGKILL` if it is still alive after 5 seconds |

See [Daemon Commands](/cli-reference-daemon) for the full lifecycle command set.
